Wenger Set To Decide On Arshavin by AH
Andrey Arshavin will be given one last chance to impress Arséne Wenger tonight, before a decision is made on the Russian’s future. It’s understood that Wenger wishes to keep Arshavin as a squad player. It’s also worth noticing Arshavin’s ability to play in a number of positions, the Russian can play Left Wing, Centre Attacking Midfield and even a Striker. Versatile players are key to a successful squad and Arshavin is more than capable of producing something special, if his chance comes.
Arshavin spent the 2nd half on the2011 / 2012 season on loan at former club Zenit St Petersburg. He impressed greatly during his loan spell, as well as he did during the Euros with the Russian National team. This led me to believe that perhaps the reason behind why he doesn’t perform particularly well for us is the fact that he doesn’t get a run of games.
Remember the player that we signed back in January 2009, he had an amazing 2nd half of the season and I believe that same player is still with us, but he just needs to get a few games, to help build his fitness to a competitive level.
Now this is the difficult part, and the main reason why Arshavin doesn’t get much playing time. It’s difficult to play a player that isn’t at a competitive fitness, without having your teamed weakened. But if Wenger uses Arshavin as a sub we could see the Russian try and challenge for a starting spot in the team.
Just remember Form is Temporary but Class Is Permanent and Arshavin is class.
