Malaga gave their midfield star Santi Cazorla permission to miss today’s training session and fly to London for his Arsenal medical, and to wrap up any loose ends before his transfer is announced. It really is just a matter of time now.
Manuel Pellegrini, the manager of Malaga, has abandoned any hope he may have had about keeping hold of his versatile midfielder. The club had tried to play hard ball but have had to admit defeat. Cazorla was one of four Malaga players who had reported the club for non-payment of wages and the club had a deadline of July 27th to sort it our before the Spanish football authorities stepped in.
All four players withdrew their complaints before the deadline passed, even though they had still, apparently, not been paid. I think that the players had all been given assurances that they would be allowed to leave without much fuss if they withdrew the protest, thereby giving Malaga some breathing space to avoid serious sanctions.
So, get ready to welcome Santi to the Emirates. He is lightning quick, can play equally well on both wings, goes past players with ease and can also finish. He is better than Eden Hazard and only half the price. He is the Gunner’s new bullet.
