With the transfer window rapidly drawing to a close and still no evidence of progress in the talks between Arsenal and Theo Walcott over a contract extension, it is becoming more and more likely that the England winger will be sold very shortly.
The latest Arsenal rumours concerning Jesus Navas would also point to the fact that Wenger is looking at some contingency plans in case of Walcott’s departure, so perhaps it is time for us to consider possible destinations for the 23 year-old.
Normally the best indication is to look at the bookies to see where the smart money is going, and I can tell you that Liverpool, at 5/4 favourites, are looking like the only destination at the moment. There were rumours that Brendan Rodgers was very keen for a while, but having already bought in Joe Allen, is that a likely scenario?
After that Chelsea are the second favourites, but are well out at 10/1, and even more unlikely is a return to his old club Southampton. They may now be in the Premiership but I certainly can’t see Walcott taking such a big step backwards. Can you?
After that Skybet go into fantasy land, with a move to our hated rivals Spurs next up at 16/1, and the two Manchester clubs are the big outsiders at 33/1.
Well looking at those teams and prices, it would seem that IF Walcott does leave, it will be Liverpool or nowhere……..
