So now we all know that Sir Alex Ferguson really is trying hard to get Arsenal to sell Robin Van Persie to Manchester United from his comments last night, but at least now we also know that Arsene Wenger is doing his utmost to find a different buyer (hopefully in another country) to keep him out of Ferguson’s clutches.
The last thing Arsenal fans want to see is our captain move to a direct Premiership rival, but the absolute worst-case scenario would be for him to go to Old Trafford. Thankfully for us, Ferguson made it clear that Arsenal are completely ignoring their offer and refusing to even talk to them about it.
“We’ve made a bid, they [Arsenal] have been trying to negotiate with other clubs,” said the Man United manager. “I don’t have a gut feeling about it. We can’t get a breakthrough with Arsenal.
“I don’t know what Arsenal’s thoughts are because they’re not giving anything away,”
“It’s difficult to say why they’re operating this way. I can’t give you any more information. We just have to persevere.
“We are trying our best and hopefully it will come our way but there’s no progress at this moment in time.”
Well Ferguson if you really want to know why Arsenal are “operating this way” it is because you are the devil incarnate and we wouldn’t sell you Sebastien Squillaci if you begged us too (Okay I may have gone a bit far there!)
One thought comes to mind. Perhaps Wenger should string Ferguson along and then when it is too late for him to find another target tell him we have sold Van Persie to someone like AC Milan. It seems that Man United’s previously all-powerful ability in the transfer market has come to an end. Man City have already blown them out of the water, and just this summer Ferguson has already missed out on Eden Hazard who went to the European Champions Chelsea, and this week he lost the talented young Brazilian Lucas Moura to the big-spending PSG.
The Scotsman is obviously is not happy about it. He said: “To tell everyone that PSG are here they’ve signed Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic,”
“They must have spent about £150m in the last month.
“When somebody’s paying 45 million euros (£35.5m) for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game’s gone mad. I find it quite amazing.”
All I hope for is that United get the hat-trick and miss out on Van Persie as well!
Get in there Wenger!
