Arsene Wenger has spoken about Jack Wilshere in glowing terms and has revealed that the England midfielder is working very hard and doing well on the road to recovery. He is too important to the Gunners, however, to risk bringing him back too early or of putting too much pressure on the 20-year old.
October will be an important month for Jack. I will promise you that I will be careful but Jack works very hard.”
Wenger also suggested that the recovery of Wilshere was a factor in not pushing too hard for the loan deal for Nuri Sahin. Wenger does not see Sahin as a replacement for Alex Song, but a player more like Wilshere who plays further forward.
Gooners everywhere will be desperate to see Wilshere back in an Arsenal shirt, but even when he returns to full training it may be a while before he is ready to play.
“After how quick he will be sharp again for competition, I don’t know. We will have to wait for at least a month to see that.”
Unless Wenger adds a defensive midfielder to the Arsenal squad, it looks like there will be alot of pressure on Mikel Arteta to be the midfield anchor. Diaby returning to full match fitness will help, but Frimpong is still injured and Coquelin may not quite be ready.
