Celta Vigo eyes Park Chu-Young on loan by AM
According to Spanish media, Celta Vigo are eyeing a loan deal for Arsenal forward Park Chu-Young. The South Korean forward has been out in cold ever since his mysterious arrival last year. Park is perhaps Arsene Wenger’s most questionable transfer investment. The forward, who was signed from Monaco last season, has made only one league appearance (total of six appearances in all competition). This season, it looks highly unlikely that Arsene Wenger will hold on to the Korean. To be fair to Park he wasn’t even given enough opportunity to prove himself as Wenger continued to prefer Chamakh when van Persie was unavailable last season.
There is no doubt that Arsenal have been looking for buyer for Park and now it seem that Celta Vigo are lining up a one year loan deal for the forward. The Spanish side have been in the market for a striker and given their lack of funds, it will be a good move for them.
It is believed that Wenger was not impressed with Park’s performances in the Olympics, where the Korean was dropped from the first team during the semi-final match against Brazil. Though Park won a bronze medal at the London games, he was far from impressive. Park was earlier linked with a move to far east, with UAE clubs Al Ain FC and Al Hilal interested in securing his service.
Championship team Blackburn Rovers were also linked with him earlier, but now it seem they have turned their attention elsewhere. Celta Vigo mite be a good option for Park, but Arsenal might be more interested in a permanent deal rather than loan. A loan deal with an option to make it permanent in the end looks to be on cards. It will certainly suit all parties involved nicely.
