Arsenal v Sunderland Statistics (Over 70% possession!)

Statistics from Arsenal Vs Sunderland by AH

Heres a look at the statistics from Saturday’s Arsenal Vs Sunderland game;

- Arsenal had 70.1% possession vs Sunderland.

- Arsenal took 23 shots today with only 3 hitting the target.

- Arsenal completed 637/702 passes – a percentage of 91%.

- Mikel Arteta completed 114/199 passes.

- Kieran Gibbs made 5 interceptions and had a 100% tackle success.

- Carl Jenkinson won 4 out of 6 aerial duels.

- Gervinho had the most take-ons with 20, only completing 50% while Theo Walcott completed 5/7 take-ons.

- Santi Cazorla created 7 goalscoring opportunity chances. While in his short cameo, Arshavin created 2.

- Santi Cazorla completed 36/40 attacking third passes

So from looking at that there are many positives and a few negatives.

The possession was like the Arsenal of old. Dominating the game, controlling the ball and passing it around before find the decisive pass. Cazorla was the standout player at providing the final ball, however the stats show that our shooting was terribly off, with only 3 out of 23 shots hitting the target.

Passing is our style of play and once again it paid off nicely, with 91% of passes being successful, Arteta being the best player on that front.
But overall i think Cazorla was the standout player of the game. He had wonderful control, well placed passing, great vision as well as a fierce shot. His individual stats are very impressive and i will be writing an article on his performance later on, so make sure you look out for it.
