ALEX SONG WANTS TO GO? By AH
This is just a rumour, but reportedly Alex Song has told Arséne Wenger that if he is forced to stay at Arsenal, he will refuse to play. It’s worrying times, with the news of Van Persie’s departure, as well as this Song rumour and I can’t imagine what Wenger is thinking.
Wenger thought he had it all wrapped up, the squad was looking good and he had made some top class signings, but us Gooners clearly forgot about the inevitable backlash that would happen, when the Dutchman made his move.
A day later, and these rumours have come out and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they were true. We’ve seen this behaviour before at the club and despite Song still being under contract for 3 more years, players are now much more powerful on how the club is run and what happens to them as a player.
I wrote an article yesterday about Alex Song, on which I saw mixed comments about the player from you all. I said that, honestly, every single player in the world would relish the chance to play for Barcelona and now that the opportunity has come, it will be difficult for Song to turn down.
In this situation, with 3 years left on a players contract, Wenger could clearly reject any offer (unless it was massive) for Alex Song. However we have a money orientated Board, and if Alex Song’s statement is true, then it’s disgraceful and he should be sold.
Sky Sports are reporting that Barcelona vice-president Josep Bartomeu is in London to seal the signing of Arsenal’s Alex Song. The Catalan club have offered just £13million, however, Arsenal are demanding at least £15million.
There could be more bad news just around the corner.
