Chamberlain and Diaby receives national team call ups where as Miyaichi is ignored by AM
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will receive his a call up for the senior team after being left out of Stuart Pearce’s U-21 squad. Roy Hodgson will very soon announce his squad for the upcoming world cup qualifier matches against Moldova and Ukraine. Oxlade-Chamberlain made his debut for England back in May, when he came on as a substitute for Ashley Young in a warm-up match (for Euro) against Norway. The Arsenal youngster was also a part of the squad that travelled to Poland and Ukraine for the Euro 2012.
Meanwhile, Abou Diaby has been called back into the French squad after over a year’s absence. Didier Deschamps has said that he is happy with the midfielder’s fitness having featured regularly at Arsenal this season. The French coach has said – “Last year, he had a disastrous season due to injuries. There is a worry over his physical condition. I hope nothing happens to him. He played 90 minutes at the weekend. He is a very interesting player and is at an age, 26, when he has more maturity.”
Even former Gunner Patrick Viera seemed very pleased with Diaby’s inclusion and tweeted – “I’m so pleased to see that Diaby has been recalled to the French team. He’s been unlucky with injury but really deserves his place.”
France will face Finland in their first qualifying match, followed by a game against Belarus. Fellow Gunners, Koscielny and Giroud have also been selected in the squad.
Alberto Zaccheroni has also announced his Japan squad for their upcoming qualifying match against Iraq and Arsenal youngster Ryo Miyaichi was excluded from the squad on grounds of his lack of fitness presently. Zaccheroni said –
“He [Miyaichi] doesn’t have match fitness and you would have to go back to April for the last time he played 90 minutes. His condition is not 100 per cent and if I had picked him it would have only made his situation more difficult.”
The 19 year old, who is currently on loan at Wigan, has made only one appearance for the senior national team so far when he came on as a substitute in May 2012, in a friendly match against Azerbaijan.
As expected, Theo Walcott, Laurent Koscielny, Szczesney, Fabianski, Ramsey, Cazorla, Mertesacker, Podolski, Djourou and Arshavin are in the squads for the coming games. The only one of these in doubt was Koscielny, but he has recovered from his injury.
