Time for Arsenal to test their Title challenge!

Posted on September 21, 2012 by Bob

What are Arsenal really made of ?? by Kamal

I’m a rookie at this whole writing thing so my apologies in advance…

Here we go, our next 5 fixtures :
• A Man Shitty
• H Chelsea
• H Olympiakos
• A West Ham
• A Norwich

The match at the Etihad is going to be a real test of character, potential, and most importantly DISCIPLINE. The much improved defence has to be focused in containing Tevez, Balo, Aguero and Dzeko. Gibbs has to be aware of his positional play and Podolski will have to track back, as will Gervinho and Santi. In my opinion, Arsenal should really play a defensive game for the first 20 mins, then start to dictate play. For this match the first 10-15 mins will be key,no goals should be conceded, then we may stand a chance. A win at City will surely make us title contenders and send a message to the big boys.

Then the Chelsea match at home, this is a must win for me. Top teams win big matches at home and I seriously believe chelsea are a little overrated this season. They haven’t faced a real test yet and we will definitely give them that. Olympiakos should be an easy win at Emirates.

West Ham away is also a tough one, big Sam always makes it hard for Arsenal, as with Bolton of old, but again we may have Jack the lad back, and that is exactly what we need for a tough match away. Norwich is a match we should win without too many problems. Jack Wilshere will be key to arsenal this season, I can’t wait for him to be back..So CAN ARSENAL KICK ON FROM THEIR GOOD START,,LETS SEE WHAT ARSENAL ARE REALLY MADE OF STARTING WITH A TRIP TO ETIHAD..Thats it for me guys,,any feedback will be welcome,thanks..COYG

Arsenal need three more players to challenge for the title

Posted on August 10, 2012 by admin

Arsenal still need more to be title contenders! by KJ

After the last couple of days, we’ve experienced the highs of signing a world class player in Cazorla to the lows of knowing that Man Utd are close to signing our star striker and captain, Robin Van Persie.

I’ve said it before that we need to forget about Van Persie and plan for a future without him. However, we’ve definitely got a chance at glory with a couple more vital signings that will return this beautiful club to greatness.

I personally think that the striker role is actually covered regardless of what happens to RVP. Giroud and Podolski aren’t given enough credit amongst the fans and they have enough talent between them to easily replace the goal threat that RVP posed.

However, in terms of who we need, there are 3 positions that will make us title contenders:

Right Back: With the Sagna injury, it would be in our best interest to get a right back in. We’ve been linked with Van Der Weil who is a solid choice. He will help ease the pressure off Sagna and hopefully will challenge him to make both of them better players.

Left back: I feel quite iffy with the LB situation. We do have two at the moment with Vermaelan as our emergency LB. However, I’m not confident in our two traditional LBs. Gibbs is too injury prone and possibly too attacking minded whilst Santos is getting on now and has real lapses in concentration whilst defending. There aren’t too many quality LBs at the moment but players like Nagamoto (Inter), Schmeltzer (Dortmund), Cissokho (Lyon) would all be quality additions to our team.

Finally, a defensive midfielder. I know Song and Arteta are great but I feel like we need the third wheel to completely cover them. If one is injured (like Arteta) was, the other (Song) won’t have to do all of it by himself. It will also keep competition fierce and hopefully push them to another level. The obvious candidates are M’Vila, Capoue and Biglia.

I know that it’s been a funny week for Arsenal but we need to remain on top of our game and keep these signings rolling. We are so close now.

Will Arsenal mount a Challenge next season?

Email

The new Premiership season is likely to bring a number of surprises, both to supporters and to gamblers, but one thing that seems eminently predictable is that Arsenal will continue to fall behind their competitors in the Premier League unless they spend some money in the summer. Of course these two issues are inextricably linked, as it is clear that the club has not replaced vital players from the glory days – such as Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry – with players of comparable quality; but this leaves fans wondering why Arsene Wenger appears so reluctant to spend.

Of course it could be argued, probably quite rightly, that too much money is spent in the Premier League – but no one could realistically accuse Arsenal of that. The club is in a healthier financial position than most of the other top clubs, but the price that they are paying for this is on the field success. One argument that has been put forward to explain Wenger’s reluctance to spend is his desire to bring through young players, so that he can mould their development every step of the way; but the problem with this is that, in order to get the best from young players, they arguably need to be balanced with experience – which is where Arsenal have been found lacking over the past seven years.

A manager of Wenger’s quality and intelligence can scarcely fail to be aware of the need to balance youth and experience however – not least because it was that balance that marked his great Arsenal teams. Therefore, many have searched for alternative explanations; with one being that he is covering for the unwillingness of the board to make money available. If this is true, it would represent a first in the history of football – making it doubtful for many observers. The expected loss of Robin Van Persie – on the grounds of the club’s lack of ambition – may at last prove the catalyst for a change of transfer policy at Arsenal. The worry around RVP seems to have created some sort of buzz as the additions of Giroud and Podolski seemed to show a real statement of intent of goals goals goals. If only they could grab Yann M’Vila from Rennes Arsenal really would be a potent threat next season.

Man City to challenge Chelsea for Arsenal winger Walcott

Manchester City are weighing up rivaling Chelsea for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.

The Daily Star Sunday says City are in the market for a winger with England wideman Adam Johnson, 24, expected to leave.

Walcott has been offered to City boss Roberto Mancini, though is understood to be cool on that idea at the moment.
