van Persie warns Arsenal lapses of concentration must stop

Robin van Persie has warned Arsenal to remain focussed if they are to beat local rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.

The Gunners missed a golden chance to close the gap on Manchester United by conceding a late penalty to draw with Liverpool at the weekend.

Holland striker Van Persie insists this throwing away winning positions must be stopped if the Gunners are to stay in touch with United ahead of their May 1 showdown at Emirates Stadium.

"This has happened too often, in my opinion," Van Persie told Arsenal TV Online.

"If you look at our history, when we are in front, when we are safe, when we have the three points in our pocket, we do concede goals.

"Some of them are silly goals, which we have to work on.

"We have to stay positive, but we really have to look at it because it is almost criminal to give away points like that."

Wenger warns new Arsenal owner who is in charge of team affairs

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims it will be very much business as usual at the Emirates despite Stan Kroenke's multi-million takeover of the Gunners.

The American’s deal is now subject to the strict rules of the Takeover Panel, and as such Arsenal are limited as to any public comments made.

However, Wenger maintained changes behind the scenes would have no impact on the way his team is managed.

"We will continue to run the club with the technical department having the decision on what is technical," said the Gunners boss, who had long talks with Kroenke at Thursday's board meeting.

"For all the rest I have to answer to Stan Kroenke and I am ready for any questions, but I run the technical department."

Wenger continued: "On the football side of things we will continue to focus on the football the way we want to play it to develop our players.

"We have a squad which is about 23 years of age who are in a strong position in the league.

"We have a certain philosophy of football and we will continue to develop that and to play even better.

"We will continue to run the club like it has been done until now - that means live within our resources, produce our own resources and develop our football team."
