It has been officially confirmed by Andrey Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lakhter that the little Russian is seeking a move away from the Emirates this transfer window.
The Russian has largely had a disappointing career at the Emirates and was essentially forced to complete a loan move to his former club Zenit St. Petersburg in January of last season.
The increased playing time proved the move was a good one with Arshavin retaining a spot for Euro 2012, where he put in some good performances, but ultimately couldn’t prevent Russia from being eliminated at the group stages.
Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lakhter is quoted as saying by Goal.com to Radyospor:
Arsene Wenger will transfer some new names for the forward line for the upcoming season.
Arshavin doesn’t want to stay in the team. Next year, he could continue his career in Turkey. I know that two clubs in Turkey are seriously interested in Arshavin.
There also some offers from the MLS, but Arshavin does not want to go to America. He also rejected an offer from Anzhi.
Obviously, it is not surprising that the little Russian is seeking a move away from the Emirates, particularly with new signing Lukas Podolski and up-and-comer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pushing him further down the pecking order.
While he did start his career off at Arsenal with a bang, his form has steadily been on the decline along with his work-rate. Hopefully he is able to re-discover some of the form that brought him to the Emirates in the first place at another club.
