Twitter trouble for Arsenal youngster

Posted on July 16, 2012 by admin

Emmanuel Frimpong could be in deep doo-doo after getting involved with a Tottenham fan on his Twitter page. Frimpong responded to an abusive message with “Scum Yid.” Following the racism case involving John Terry and Anton Ferdinand and the Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole “choc ice” reference, Frimpong could not have picked a worse time.

There is a good chance that the football authorities will take the matter further, and Arsenal may come under pressure to discipline the young midfielder themselves. The 20-year old from Ghana cannot seem to get a break, having suffered cruciate ligament damages twice already during his fledgling career.

After impressing in the 2010 Emirates cup, Frimpong missed the whole of the season through his first injury. Last January, the player went on loan to Wolves to assist his development, only to suffer another cruciate problem in his fifth appearance. He is still recovering from that problem, and asked (via Twitter) for fans to pray for his recovery.

One of the responses was from an idiotic Spurs fan who said “I prayed you break your arms and legs.” His temper then got the better of him and, despite removing his angry Tweet soon after posting it, he will now have to face the consequences.
