Arsenal fans to have their hopes dashed again?

A good transfer window??? Or are we being duped again ?? by LD

Yet again as the transfer window rushes rapidly towards its conclusion  Arsenal Fans are left wondering what’s really going to happen, not only before the end of the Month but also by the end of the coming season.

We were all of us to a man (or woman), well pleased by the purchase of three named and established Players at the start of the summer and even the on-going wrangle between our want away striker RVP was less of a worry when we considered what Wenger was saying in the press and the rumours that were abounding regarding every decent player that was looking to move anywhere. Names that thrilled the brain such as Affelay, Capoue, M’Villa, and many other skilful and promising players were linked with The Arsenal and, going on the business already done, it looked as if for the first time in seven years The Arsenal were really showing some serious ambition and were looking to actually challenge for a trophy in the coming Months, Expectations were High!!!!!!!

However (and there always seems to be a However when Arsenal is dealing the cards) this period of expectancy and hope was soon replaced by that dread feeling that the books were about to be balanced and that the joy we had experienced previously was all about to come crashing down …..And so it did.

We sold the top goal scorer of last season and the man who almost single handed  saw us into the third spot over our most hated rivals. We suddenly, and with no warning, sold Alex song a stalwart midfielder to Barcelona without a whimper of protest and therefore sent out the message that we can be bullied by every tom, Dick and Harry who has a cheque book and a willingness to use it. We then issued some vague statements about Song being unruly and disruptive, when the truth slowly emerged that he wanted more money per week and we refused to pay it. Remarkable when you consider that there are about five players on our books who are completely useless and are still collecting the same if not more cash per week than Song who is a first teamer. We then had to sweat as the press reported a to-ing and fro-ing with the Sahin Saga only to end up losing out to a third rate Liverpool side because of what amounts to peanuts in salary issues.

Now with less than three days to go speculation is rife about the special Key player we are going to buy, Wenger is tight lipped and the press and rumour mill is awash with players being linked to us in the last few days of the window being open.

If like me you’ve supported the arsenal for over thirty years you’ll know that it’s always been a similar situation, we never really have spent any money and we’ve only ever got really special key players who were established by luck rather than through expenditure. But you’ll also know just how many wonderful players have left us in the last seven years to go on to better things (not counting those who went on to fail)

But its interesting to note in the mail on Sunday that Wenger actually admitted that he wished he’d bought Eden Hazard. This player was linked with us two seasons ago and again last season and Wenger clearly thought there was a vast potential in the player. Wrangles with Lille at the last moment stopped it last year and this year, after Wenger hyping him, he went to Chelski for 35 million.

My Point is this, If Wenger agrees and backs the club’s Fiscal policies regarding transfers and funds, why did he ever think he could compete with likes of Chelski or Shitty in the transfer market????

If he doesn’t then why on earth does he stop acting as a buffer between the fans and the board and come out and say what’s really going on??

There are many of you on here that are saying Give the new boys time, we have drawn two games and that’s not bad etc. etc. But really, honestly, do any of you thinks it’s good that we have only two points from two games?? Is it right that we let Sahin go to Liverpool?? Are we going to survive without a real goal poaching striker??? Yes we have a brilliant addition in Cazorla, but where if anywhere do we go from here??? Or is it the same story told in a different way as all the silverware less seasons that have gone before.

Its seems that the hope we all had two months ago will again amount to nowt and, in my opinion, we have to start asking the question “how long must we pay the highest prices in the land only to watch a mediocre side falter whist listening to lies that are now actually starting to sound the same?? And if not what do we do about it??

Obviously the window is still open and anything can happen both in the next few days and the rest of the season, but how hopeful and definite are you all after so long  being fobbed off and lied to ??
