Santos arrested by TS
Arsenal defender and Brazilian footballer Andre Santos was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving the day before our EPL season opener against Sunderland.
BBC reports that he was arrested after officers spotted a car being driven erratically by a driver who failed to stop on Friday morning. Santos, who was later bailed and benched for the Sunderland game, was arrested near the north London club’s training ground in London Colney, Hertfordshire. An officer from the Metropolitan Police came out with this report:
“Shortly after 9.30am on Friday August 17, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police on the A1, near to Junction 22 of the M25.Officers’ attention was drawn to the vehicle due to the manner of its driving. The man has been bailed to return at a date in mid-September to a North London police station.”
Santos was not breathalysed but faced jail time after he allegedly sped away from chasing police at up to 130mph. He is reported to have weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic in his Maserati GranTurismo supercar. The defender could be jailed if found guilty of dangerous driving.
With Santos now possibly complicating AW defensive plans perhaps now is as a good a time as any to bring in a versatile defender that can play anywhere in the back four.
