Juventus reluctantly hijacked Siena deal for Nicklas Bendtner

It has been revealed that Nicklas Bendtner is undergoing a medical at Juventus today, but it has now been revealed that the Arsenal striker was all set to move to Siena before “The Old Lady” hijacked the deal.

The Siena sporting director Stefano Antonelli told Sky Sport Italia. “It was seemingly an impossible operation, but we had an agreement with Arsenal and with the player,”

“It seemed like a dream, but, at one point, it looked as if we had him. The interest from Juventus then changed the scenario.”

“Having chosen Juve, he still phoned our President out of respect,” Antonelli concluded. “He, and his agent, behaved in the right way.”

Although Juventus hijacked the deal, their Sporting Director Giuseppe Marotta admitted that they did it out of desperation because they couldn’t agree terms for Fernando Llorente or Stevan Jovetic.

Juve also missed out on Dimitar Berbatov yesterday, and Moratta slammed the Man Utd striker for his unprofessionalism. Morrata said: “We reiterate that we only approached Manchester United and the player after we were informed he had already turned down Fiorentina. Perhaps he forgot to tell Fiorentina that.

“Berbatov certainly did not make a good impression on anyone and it was an unprofessional way to behave, so we agree with Fiorentina that it’s best he didn’t come here.”

So then they finally turned to Bendtner as a last resort. “Bendtner is not the high-profile striker we were hoping to sign, but it’s a chance we had to take in a difficult market like this.” Moratta said.

So Bendtner nearly accepted a place at a non-Champions League side??? Well as Moratta said earlier, this is Bendtner’s big chance to really prove himself at the highest level….by default!

Arsenal Rumours Aug 28th – Bendtner, Chamakh, Isco, Mbiwa, Afellay and Cabaye

Posted on August 28, 2012 by admin

There are loads of Arsenal transfer rumours popping up as we enter the last few days of the transfer window, and today is no different. Come on Arsene, we’re all waiting for that “special player” you’ve promised us last week!

Well first of all let’s get one outgoing player out of the way, as the Mail reports that Nicklas Bendtner is now being looked at by Juventus as the Old Lady seems to have failed in their bid to get Llorente. The bad news is that the price being quoted (or offered) is only £5million. As much as we don’t want the Greatest Striker In The World back at Arsenal, I really think he should be worth more than that after his performances at the Euros this summer……

Another Arsenal striker hopefully to be leaving is Marouane Chamakh who is reported to be wanted by Malaga in La Liga. This could be very helpful as Arsenal have been linked with a move for the unwanted Spanish U21 international Isco (Full name: Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez). For some unknown reason the Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini thinks that Isco is surplus to requirements this season and has given him permission to talk to other clubs. Perhaps Wenger could propose a straight swap?

It seems that Yohan Cabaye is the favour of the week at Arsenal according to the English press, but Newcastle have admitted they are loathe to sell any of their stars at this late stage, so I am unconvinced this one will get off the ground, but the out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay is a possibility after being told he can go out on loan for a season to try and regain his form. Afellay missed most of last season with a cruciate injury but if he can regain his previous form for PSV and Holland he could be a very useful addition to the Arsenal midfield.

Another licely Arsenal rumour is the possibility of nabbing the Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who is very versatile and can play anywhere in the back line. He would certainly be useful but I doubt if Wenger will bring in a defender, although its obvious to everyone in the world (except him!) that Arsenal need one more classy squad player in the defence to cover for all these bloody injuries….

Can you see any of these players ending up at Arsenal before the weekend????

Will Bendtner take wage cut for Italy move?

Posted on August 28, 2012 by Bob

Bendtner on his way to Italy by TS

The man we all love to hate definitely has his admirers. Either that or he has an exceptional agent. The want away striker has made it no secret that he wishes to leave the Emirates but is finding moving more difficult than he expected. None the less, it hasn’t stopped the likes of Italian giants AC Milan from casting an eye at the Dane and now its been reported that Juventus are being linked with the striker.

As much as I would like the lad to move on (and I’m being polite), I find it difficult to believe that so many big clubs are prepared to take Bendtner off our hands.  Simply put, I’m a little cautious by it all if not in the least naive. You know what they say, if its too good to be true, it probably is. None the less, the Daily Mail report that Juventus are in fact interested in his services and are prepared to offer £5m for the player.

The Dane still has two years left on his contract and a couple of clubs have taken an interest in him, especially AC Milan as I’ve said, who have been linked with the player all transfer season although they have yet to announce any talks regarding the matter. So who knows how serious their intentions really are?

Bendtner’s weekly wages are reported to have stalled all deals with the player not willing to take a pay cut. However,  now it would seem, Bendtner’s agent, Tom Brookes, has convinced the Dane that a move away from Arsenal is the best option and that a pay cut is the only way to do that. It is reported that the player is looking at a wage cut of £15k bringing his asking wage to roughly around the £35k mark. Which in my opinion is still £34k too much! However, if any club is prepared to offer the Dane that amount then it is speculated that he will accept.

All I can say is, please Juventus, please.

Arsenal have got a new Bendtner

Santos arrested by TS

Arsenal defender and Brazilian footballer Andre Santos was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving the day before our EPL season opener against Sunderland.

BBC reports that he was arrested after officers spotted a car being driven erratically by a driver who failed to stop on Friday morning. Santos, who was later bailed and benched for the Sunderland game, was arrested near the north London club’s training ground in London Colney, Hertfordshire. An officer from the Metropolitan Police came out with this report:

“Shortly after 9.30am on Friday August 17, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police on the A1, near to Junction 22 of the M25.Officers’ attention was drawn to the vehicle due to the manner of its driving. The man has been bailed to return at a date in mid-September to a North London police station.”

Santos was not breathalysed but faced jail time after he allegedly sped away from chasing police at up to 130mph. He is reported to have weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic in his Maserati GranTurismo supercar. The defender could be jailed if found guilty of dangerous driving.

With Santos now possibly complicating AW defensive plans perhaps now is as a good a time as any to bring in a versatile defender that can play anywhere in the back four.

Arsenal to offload Bendtner and get Mexes in return

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Bob

Morning Gooners. So today news has broke about our infamous striker being set to make a move to the Italian shores this week. There have been constant negotiations  over his departure from Arsenal but now it seems the Dane is on his way out.

The striker has made it clear he does not see his future with the club, whilst Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have confirmed he does not figure in their plans. The problem, as we all know, lies in Bendtner’s inflated ego. He obviously thinks he’s one of the best strikers the football world has yet to see and therefore is reluctant to move to just any club. The Dane stated,

“It is not an option to stay at Arsenal, that is something neither I nor Arsenal desire. I am expecting that the club issue will be resolved before the transfer window is closed. There are serious negotiations going on.”

The striker admitted that he already has rejected some offers adding:

“Yes, I have. From the start, I had three requirements. In case they are not fulfilled, I have rejected them since they are not interesting at this point.” Obviously not making life easier for himself or Arsenal!

Milan are expected to step up their efforts to land our misfit in a swap with centre-back Philippe Mexes. Frankly, the deal sounds just plush if it’s true! The Italians are ready to offload the French star this week, and reports suggest that his £80k per week salary will be settled with a pay off deal that Milan are prepared to offer. So there you go, Arsenal board, a quality signing for a want-away striker and by the looks of it, his weekly wages will be lowered. Win win.

Why not replace Van Persie with Bendtner?

Posted on July 10, 2012 by admin

BENDTNER’S DECISION by AH

Nicklas Bendtner, otherwise known as ‘the greatest striker in the world’ according to him, looks set to leave Arsenal this summer, with 5 clubs already interested in him.

The man from Denmark certainly has a presence and although people label him negatively, he honestly isn’t that bad. Last season he went on-loan to Premier League side Sunderland. I think his time in the north was fairly successful with 8 goals in 28 league appearances. It’s fair to say they’re not the best stats- however his performances seemed to be good and I honestly believe he is a decent player to have in a squad as back up.

However the main issue is, does he want to stay?

As I said earlier, Bendtner has 5 clubs interested in him 3 of which have made enquires; Fulham, Borussia Dortmund and Malaga. They are all good teams however the only top side there is Dortmund. And after an impressive Euro 2012, I am not surprised clubs have come calling for him.
On numerous occasions both his agent and Bendtner himself have stated he will end up at a ‘top club’ and I don’t disagree with them. In the future I can see him being a big player and if he doesn’t have to leave Arsenal, I think it would be a very big mistake to let him go. But that’s what’s important, we must make sure that if he is to stay at Arsenal, that he is happy and we must make sure that he won’t be disruptive as he has been in the past. It’s no rumour that he wanted to leave as he stated that earlier in the year; ‘I will never go back to Arsenal’, Bendtner said. ‘If I can have it my way, I will never play for them again.’

But he may of since changed his mind and I think we should keep him especially if we are not planning on replacing Van Persie, whilst selling Park, Chamakh and Vela.

What do you think?
