It has been revealed that Nicklas Bendtner is undergoing a medical at Juventus today, but it has now been revealed that the Arsenal striker was all set to move to Siena before “The Old Lady” hijacked the deal.
The Siena sporting director Stefano Antonelli told Sky Sport Italia. “It was seemingly an impossible operation, but we had an agreement with Arsenal and with the player,”
“It seemed like a dream, but, at one point, it looked as if we had him. The interest from Juventus then changed the scenario.”
“Having chosen Juve, he still phoned our President out of respect,” Antonelli concluded. “He, and his agent, behaved in the right way.”
Although Juventus hijacked the deal, their Sporting Director Giuseppe Marotta admitted that they did it out of desperation because they couldn’t agree terms for Fernando Llorente or Stevan Jovetic.
Juve also missed out on Dimitar Berbatov yesterday, and Moratta slammed the Man Utd striker for his unprofessionalism. Morrata said: “We reiterate that we only approached Manchester United and the player after we were informed he had already turned down Fiorentina. Perhaps he forgot to tell Fiorentina that.
“Berbatov certainly did not make a good impression on anyone and it was an unprofessional way to behave, so we agree with Fiorentina that it’s best he didn’t come here.”
So then they finally turned to Bendtner as a last resort. “Bendtner is not the high-profile striker we were hoping to sign, but it’s a chance we had to take in a difficult market like this.” Moratta said.
So Bendtner nearly accepted a place at a non-Champions League side??? Well as Moratta said earlier, this is Bendtner’s big chance to really prove himself at the highest level….by default!
