Arsenal transfer rumours about Llorente keep popping up

Posted on September 22, 2012 by Bob

Arsenal are after Fernando Llorente by KJ

It’s weird talking about transfers when the window has just closed, but it seems there is some solid news coming that Arsenal are going to step up their interest for the Spaniard. Now, I would usually dismiss this, but I’ve read from a few reliable sources that Arsenal are definitely interested in him. The main reason is that his fee will be relatively low because of him being free next summer.

There are a host of clubs after Llorente including the likes of Juventus and Manchester City. It definitely will be difficult. but not impossible, for Wenger. It’s easy to persuade a player when using logic. Serie A is a broken league that has become uncompetitive. Manchester City already have 4 top quality strikers and hence, Llorente won’t get any game time for the Blues. Arsenal on the other hand only have one conventional striker at the moment in Giroud.

I’d expect the Euro 2012 winner to cost the Gunners £9-£10 million. It’s a bargain considering the man’s talent. He holds up the ball but has an amazing eye for a pass and has lethal goal scoring ability. He’s the finished article at 27 and will definitely relieve the pressure on our newly acquired Frenchman, Olivier Giroud.

I generally wouldn’t pay a lot of attention to this but I’m optimistic that Wenger will try and sign a couple of players in January. He said as much in his press conference before the window closed. He may act like it was his decision not to spend as the window closed but he’s just bluffing. He enquired about Cabaye, Tiote, M’Biwa, Dempsey etc. during the transfer deadline week. He was actively seeking a lot of players but couldn’t get business done in time for various reasons.

Don’t be surprised if these Llorente rumours pick up over the winter. I can see him playing for Arsenal providing everything goes to plan (however unlikely that may seem).

Arsenal rumours: Arshavin out – H’Maidat in?

Posted on September 05, 2012 by admin

Arshavin to be sold for free while a Belgium kid has a trial by AM

Reportedly Arsenal are looking to sell Andrei Arshavin for free before the Russian transfer window closes. Earlier Arsenal were looking to sell the Russian captain £5m, but it seems that they haven’t been able to find a buyer. Zenit, where Arshavin went on loan last season, have already invested heavily in the transfer market, buying Hulk and Witsel, so that won’t be a possible destination for Arshavin.

Arshavin is not part of Wenger’s plan for this season. The diminutive midfielder’s agent has been scouring Russia to find a club interested in his client. CSKA Moscow and Anzhi Makhachkala are being linked as a possible destination for Arshavin this season. Even though Arsenal will not be able to retrieve any of the £13m they invested in him when they bought him, Arshavin’s departure will clear up some of the wage bills. The Russian transfer window closes this Thursday and it looks like Arshavin’s adventure at the Emirates might be drawing to a close.

From departure to a possible new arrivals – highly rated Belgium teenager Ismail H’Maidat is set for a trial at Arsenal. The young midfielder was unearthed at Nike talent scouting program ‘The Chance’. This program enables young talents to train and have trials at big clubs. H’Maidat is said to be someone with good leadership and technical skill.

Could he be the next super-starlet at Arsenal?

Ridiculous Arsenal Rumours part 1

Posted on August 30, 2012 by Bob

It is that time again. Two days of the transfer window left, and reporters are engaged in the annual game of who can come up with the stupidest, most unbelievable rumour regarding possible transfers. We have got two pearlers today. Manchester City are going to offer Edin Dzeko to Arsenal as part of a deal for Theo Walcott, and Barcelona are looking to offload Cesc Fabregas back to Arsenal in a permanent or loan deal.

Of course they are. Metro reports the Dzeko story, but with no quotes or supporting evidence. Why on earth would City offer Dzeko, who has played well for them so far this season and cost £27 million when they bought him from the German club Wolfsburg? Maybe Dzeko is a little unhappy that he does not get as much playing time as he would like or that he feels he deserves, but if Roberto Mancini wanted to get rid of him there would be no shortage of buyers. Is Mancini just feeling sorry for Arsenal and wants to give Arsene Wenger an early Christmas present?

Barcelona’s new boss Tito Vilanova has decided to move Cesc Fabregas on because of two under par performances, according to Marca. Unsure of what is the best position for Fabregas, Vilanova has tried him in various different places. The Barca boss feels his best position is the false nine that Spain used in Euro 2012. The problem is that Barcelona already have a reasonably proficient striker called Lionel Messi. So rather than struggle to find a place for the brilliantly talented Fabregas, Vilanova will simply get rid.

Who needs comedians when you have got sports reporters?

Ridiculous Arsenal rumours part 2

Arsenal show interest in Del Piero by TS

So here’s a weird one and I’ll let you decide what you will about it. Tuttosport, a sport’s site in Italy have published a report claiming that Arsenal are interested in signing Alessandro Del Piero. Yip, that’s right, you heard me.

The report is claiming that rumors are coming out of England stating that Wenger is getting ready to make an offer for the former Juventus captain. Celtic were firm favorites to land the player after they agreed to his weekly wages of £20k. Sydney FC are also in the running for the player. Who knows how true these reports are? My guess: Not true at all.

So it looks to be an unlikely rumor but still, is it something worth considering?  At 37, he’s no spring chicken and certainly would go against everything AW looks for in players. But not so fast. His wages are relatively low(Something Arsenal’s board will love!) and at one stage he was world class, perhaps the best. We need a striker and Del Piero plays as a supporting striker somewhere between midfield and the striker. He’s creative in attack and prolific in assists as well as scoring himself. He’s a versatile player, no question. If he was 10 years younger, I’d say he was exactly the player we needed right now- someone to assist Giroud and play alongside Carzorla.

Now I don’t expect AW to announce the former Juventus captain as our new summer signing but is he such a bad option? Given his age, many would agree, his value to a modern Arsenal would be low but I’m not so sure. I see the guy having an end career similar to David Beckham’s. Considering quality never dies, I wonder if a one year deal is so unrealistic.

If Juventus are really going to sign Nicklas Bendtner, we could end up with each others cast offs.

Arsenal Rumours Aug 28th – Bendtner, Chamakh, Isco, Mbiwa, Afellay and Cabaye

Posted on August 28, 2012 by admin

There are loads of Arsenal transfer rumours popping up as we enter the last few days of the transfer window, and today is no different. Come on Arsene, we’re all waiting for that “special player” you’ve promised us last week!

Well first of all let’s get one outgoing player out of the way, as the Mail reports that Nicklas Bendtner is now being looked at by Juventus as the Old Lady seems to have failed in their bid to get Llorente. The bad news is that the price being quoted (or offered) is only £5million. As much as we don’t want the Greatest Striker In The World back at Arsenal, I really think he should be worth more than that after his performances at the Euros this summer……

Another Arsenal striker hopefully to be leaving is Marouane Chamakh who is reported to be wanted by Malaga in La Liga. This could be very helpful as Arsenal have been linked with a move for the unwanted Spanish U21 international Isco (Full name: Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez). For some unknown reason the Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini thinks that Isco is surplus to requirements this season and has given him permission to talk to other clubs. Perhaps Wenger could propose a straight swap?

It seems that Yohan Cabaye is the favour of the week at Arsenal according to the English press, but Newcastle have admitted they are loathe to sell any of their stars at this late stage, so I am unconvinced this one will get off the ground, but the out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay is a possibility after being told he can go out on loan for a season to try and regain his form. Afellay missed most of last season with a cruciate injury but if he can regain his previous form for PSV and Holland he could be a very useful addition to the Arsenal midfield.

Another licely Arsenal rumour is the possibility of nabbing the Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who is very versatile and can play anywhere in the back line. He would certainly be useful but I doubt if Wenger will bring in a defender, although its obvious to everyone in the world (except him!) that Arsenal need one more classy squad player in the defence to cover for all these bloody injuries….

Can you see any of these players ending up at Arsenal before the weekend????

Update on Alex Song rumours – Truth…..or lies?

Posted on August 15, 2012 by admin

Update On Alex Song by AH

Alex Song has dismissed rumours linking him to Barcelona by stating he’s happy at Arsenal, as did Arsene Wenger, whom dismissed links to Barcelona and stated that they didn’t submit a bid for the midfielder.

However let’s not forget that, Arséne Wenger isn’t the most reliable and truthful when it comes to transfers, I mean, he has already said he didn’t know who Cazorla was, and that he wasn’t interested in Podolski and Arteta, just days before buying them.

Back to Song and Malaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has claimed that his compatriot told him he wants to join Barcelona: “We were together on vacation. He [Song] would like to go to Barcelona, any player would like to.”

Now that is a claim, which I both believe and don’t believe. I agree that any player would like to go to Barcelona, I mean who wouldn’t want to play for the Catalan giants, but I don’t believe that Song, would openly come out and say that.”

Sky Sports are reporting that the Barcelona vice-president Josep Bartomeu is in London to seal the signing of Arsenal’s Alex Song. The Catalan club have offered just £13million, however, Arsenal are demanding at least £15million.

And remember even though Alex Song has dismissed the rumours, anybody can lie!

More rumours about Arsenal’s van Persie

Posted on July 29, 2012 by admin

It is all becoming a bit confusing , with Arsene Wenger saying there have been no fresh bids, Alex Ferguson admitting a bid, and Roberto Mancinisaying that Robin van Persie is “an Arsenal Player.”

Today’s stories will probably just confuse us further, but there might be some truth in them so here goes.

The Mirror and the Daily Mail both have reports on the potential transfer of van Persie to Man City and Man United respectively, but both stories have a common thread, MONEY. The story in the Daily Mail suggests that our Dutch striker would prefer a move to United over City, assuming that Juventus have backed out of the race. This may be true, with City already overloaded with Prima Donna front men.

Apparently, van Persie is insisting on getting the same wages as the top paid player at the club. Rooney is that man, on around £200,000 per week. He got that salary by threatening to leave, sound familiar anyone? The question is, whether United would be willing to pay van Persie the same as Rooney, and would it cause problems in the dressing room.

The Mirror story is similar in that it also claims that van Persie is demanding to equal the top earner at the club, Yaya Toure. The weekly wages involved are similar at both clubs, but it makes you think, if there is any truth to it, whether van Persie’s statements about Arsenal’s ambition tell us the real truth.

If van Persie is desperate to win some silverware, and he believes that City or United can offer it, would he be so picky about his wages. Both teams would be willing to at least match the deal that Arsenal have offered, so he would not be poverty stricken. Is the captain simply doing what Rooney did and trying to get himself the best deal possible from Arsenal?

Arsenal Rumours July 16th – Walcott, Vela, Niang, Dzeko and Ganso

Posted on July 16, 2012 by admin

There is a deafening lack of information coming from the club about Theo Walcott signing a new contract with Arsenal this summer, and this seems to indicate that he will also be moving along with Robin Van Persie. This has led to a spate of rumours about his possible destination with both Liverpool and Chelsea said to be interested.

I can’t see him going to Liverpool if he is “in search of trophies”, but Chelsea would be a real possibility given that Theo wouldn’t even have to move house, but after securing Eden Hazard I doubt that the Blues would have space to make him a regular first team player. Personally I think he will be persuaded to re-sign by Wenger if they increase the wages on offer.

It seems that Carlos Vela is well on his way to getting his desired permanent move to Spain, with Real Sociedad locked in talks with Arsenal over a compromise. The Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay seems pretty confident a deal can be agreed. He said: “We’re getting somewhere, but there’s nothing set in stone yet,”

“As the talks have evolved, I’m moderately optimistic, but there’s no deal yet.”

That will be one more off the wage bill anyway!

The young Frenchman Mbaye Niang looked like arriving at Arsenal after his trial but there has been no feedback from the club at all on his performance, and now it seems that Tottenham (or even Man City) are also ready to put him through his paces if Arsenal start dragging their heels. Or perhaps they will offer him better personal terms…..

There are a few too many rumours linking Arsenal with the Brazilian ex-starlet Ganso, who was supposed to be the “next big thing” to come out of South America, but injuries and lack of form seem to make him a risky investment as far as I’m concerned, and the prices being quoted are just totally non-Arsenal figures. This one will never happen….

I like the idea from Ray Parlour that Arsenal should get Edin Dzeko from Man City in return for Van Persie going the other way, but again it is nearly impossible given the wages he will be earning at City. I think we are simply going to have to accept that Giroud is the straight replacement for our captain and there will NOT be any more strikers coming in…..

Arsenal Rumours: Rondon, Affelay, Sneijder, Sakho and…Arshavin?

Most Recent News and Rumours – by JG

Arsenal, as usual, are being linked with many a player. For a while now we’ve been linked with one particularly interesting character by the name of Rondon; a 6ft 1in 22 y/o Venezuelan international who plays for Malaga in La Liga. Personally, I think Rondon is most likely going to go to Chelski as a replacement for Drogba but I could well be wrong about that (but I doubt it). Rondon is a very good striker, and actually brandishes many of the same attributes that Drogba possesses (possessed). Again, I don’t think Arsenal are actually going for him and rightly so, he wouldn’t have anywhere to fit in (and don’t sit there and think, “oh well he can sit on the bench and Chamakh can piss off”, Rondon is not someone who is going to sit on the bench.

The agent of Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay has cooled talk of a move away. Which isn’t surprising… However Karel Jansen (agent) told Fichajes.net: “Barcelona does not want to sell and Ibrahim wants to stay at the club.” Affellay probably isn’t aware of it, but he is on a lot of hopeful gooners’ minds. Somehow (with “he who should not be named” incident) I don’t think Dutch players are high on the likely transfer list, but I could be wrong about that as well.

Speaking of Dutch players, Wesley Sneijder has been linked to Arsenal…this is so outlandish that I will not elaborate any further.

Reports are out claiming that Arsenal and Newcastle United are eying PSG defender Mamadou Sakho. Le 10 Sport says Newcastle are eyeing Sakho as an alternative to FC Twente defender Douglas. Sakho made it pretty clear that he wanted to depart PSG this summer, but would it be to Arsenal?

Again, this isn’t a player that should (will) sit on the bench. Yet so many Gooners think he should sign…how would that make any sense? What, you’re going to bench Koscielny, Vermaelen or Mertesacker and replace them for no reason? Either way, if Arsenal bring a defender in it will be back up material, not a top classer.

Lastly, Andrei Arshavin looks like a sure move to Zenit now. Zenit seem to have caved in and are making a fresh move for him. This would be best for all parties, no need to discuss why.

Anyway, that’s all for now, let us know what you think.

Arsenal News and Rumours – Chamakh, Kalou, Jovetic and…….

Posted on July 09, 2012 by admin

Recent News and Rumours – by JG

Well, Arsenal fans can release a collective sigh of relief, Salomon Kalou has signed a four-year contract with Lille in Ligue 1. All joking aside, this is a perfect example of how the media can manipulate some fans so easily. There were hordes of people commenting, saying things like “ohhhh noooo not Kalou! He is not good at all!” Which is understandable, because he is very average; but the truth of the matter is, Arsenal were not even attempting to sign him at all.

Reports have emerged that Arsenal are closer to finding a buyer for Marouane Chamakh. The Sun says Fiorentina are ready to lay down £4million for Arsenal striker Chamakh. Apparently a source who knows Chamakh “closely” (probably his agent, or his shisha dealer) has said, “The Italian option is very attractive.”

This coincides with the possibility of a Stevan Jovetic transfer. Offer Chamakh and £14 million? Not an unreasonable business proposition in my opinion, and Arsenal are more that capable of doing it; I mean come on, £12 million for Olivier Giroud? That was a fantastic piece of bargaining to sign Giroud for that amount. ManShitty would have probably spent £18 million (if they didn’t have Dzeko already).

The Telegraph says Juventus hope to beat Manchester City in the race to sign Van Persie. According to the rumours Juventus are willing to break their own wage structure by paying Van Persie close to the £200,000 per week that would be on offer at City, but they will be more reluctant to pay a transfer fee above £15 million. I don’t really feel like elaborating on this because I’m sick and tired of discussing RVP’s family dishonoring nonsense, but I will say this…Would he really move to Manchester City; and risk the reaction he would get from Arsenal fans when he plays in a sky blue jersey at the Emirates?

Anyway, that’s all for now, let us know what you think.
