It is that time again. Two days of the transfer window left, and reporters are engaged in the annual game of who can come up with the stupidest, most unbelievable rumour regarding possible transfers. We have got two pearlers today. Manchester City are going to offer Edin Dzeko to Arsenal as part of a deal for Theo Walcott, and Barcelona are looking to offload Cesc Fabregas back to Arsenal in a permanent or loan deal.
Of course they are. Metro reports the Dzeko story, but with no quotes or supporting evidence. Why on earth would City offer Dzeko, who has played well for them so far this season and cost £27 million when they bought him from the German club Wolfsburg? Maybe Dzeko is a little unhappy that he does not get as much playing time as he would like or that he feels he deserves, but if Roberto Mancini wanted to get rid of him there would be no shortage of buyers. Is Mancini just feeling sorry for Arsenal and wants to give Arsene Wenger an early Christmas present?
Barcelona’s new boss Tito Vilanova has decided to move Cesc Fabregas on because of two under par performances, according to Marca. Unsure of what is the best position for Fabregas, Vilanova has tried him in various different places. The Barca boss feels his best position is the false nine that Spain used in Euro 2012. The problem is that Barcelona already have a reasonably proficient striker called Lionel Messi. So rather than struggle to find a place for the brilliantly talented Fabregas, Vilanova will simply get rid.
