Arsenal vs Sunderland preview by KJ
This is finally it. We’ve waited so long for this game and it’s finally here. The first Arsenal game of the season!
We’re more prepared this time round even with the departures of Van Persie and most likely, Song. Although this won’t be as difficult as Newcastle were with us playing at home also being a benefiting factor, Sunderland won’t roll over.
Martin O’Neil has set them up really organised and are extremely efficient at defending whilst utilising the counter attack with young Irishman Mclean proving his worth last season. They’re essentially a better version of Stoke at the moment.
Arsene Wenger has essentially got a new front-line at the moment. The likes of Podolski and Cazorla are fully expected to start changing the complexion of the club’s original dynamics. We can expect to see more link-up play with Podolski and Cazorla as well as the attacking mid contributing to the goals. Podolski will surprise a few people with his pace which seems deadly on the counter-attack. Walcott will also play slightly differently with him cutting in a bit more and combining with Cazorla.
I expect Arteta and Diaby to be our central midfielders and they seem like they can defensively, do the job. However, they both need to make sure that they are defending when required. We need to be disciplined this match as it could set the precedent for our season.

This is a very solid line-up personally. It consists of the majority of our first team players. The only one which I feel slightly worried about is Jenkinson. However, I’m confident that Arteta and Diaby can provide cover for him and he’ll do his best to impress Wenger.
My predicted score is: 2-0 to Arsenal. I think it will be a goal for Podolski and one for Gervinho as well.
