Arsenal vs Chelsea preview, predictions and live streaming

Arsenal vs Chelsea preview, line-up and score prediction. by KJ

It’s strange going into a game against Chelsea with optimism abundant amongst the Arsenal fans. Whether this optimism comes from knowing that Drogba won’t be playing tomorrow, I don’t know. All I know is that the Ivorian has been a thorn in our side for many years.

This Chelsea team that will line up tomorrow will be vastly different to anything Wenger has seen from the blue side of London in quite some time. They are technically superb and have a perfect blend of possession and counter-attack. However, they seem very frail in defence, if tested (i.e that game against Juventus). If anything, they remind me of the Arsenal of old.

Today will all be about the possession game. Can we keep it in tight areas and apply pressure? Can we move it swiftly and switch up play? It will be difficult with players like Hazard and Mata who are notoriously good with the ball. However, we have the home advantage which should count.

My line up is:
Mannone
Jenkinson Mertesacker Vermaelan Gibbs
Arteta Ramsey
Gervinho Cazorla Podolski
Giroud

It’s a very strange line-up but I’ll give my reasons:
Vermaelan as captain will replace Koscielny. Mertesacker has been our best CB at the moment and I can’t see him being replaced at all.

I picked Ramsey ahead of Diaby as he seemed a bit raw in our match against City. Although he, for the most part, maintained the physical presence in our midfield, he overcomplicated play. He slowed down our attacks and lost possession too many times to count. Chelsea don’t really have a physical presence in midfield and hence we can bench him. Ramsey was my MOTM against City and hence deserves a start in midfield.

I want Gervinho on the wings as he is still still a very dangerous player and can force Cole to sit back. Giroud scored his first goal for Arsenal against Coventry and I want Wenger to maintain him in the starting line-up to show the confidence he has in him. This will be a much tighter match than most expect but I can see Arsenal getting the win.

My prediction: 2-1 to Arsenal.

Liverpool v Arsenal Preview, Stats and Prediction

Liverpool v Arsenal Preview by AM

Arsenal travel to Anfield in their next match to face Liverpool. The Gunners have have already dropped four points from their opening two matches. Here is a preview for the game they promises to be a exciting affair.

Liverpool injurys and suspensions

The only injury concern for Liverpool at the moment is Lucas. The Brazilian, who just returned from an injury which kept him out nearly whole of last season, is expected miss the action for nearly 2 – 3 months due to his recent thigh injury. Joe Cole will also face a late fitness test, but the Englishman is expected to be fit and available.

Arsenal injury and suspensions

Wojciech Szczesny faces a late fitness test, for his rib injury, before the game. Other than the Polish goalkeeper, Fabianski might also miss the bench due to his mysterious back injury. Rosicky, Sagna, Wilshere and Frimpong continue to feature in the long term injury list. So Arsene Wenger still has as many as six players in the medical room.

Liverpool team news
Probable Starting Lineup (4-3-3): Reina; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique; Gerrard, Allen, Sahin; Suarez, Borini, Sterling

Big boost for Liverpool will be the return of Daniel Agger into the center of the defense after he missed the last game due to suspension. Nuri Sahin, the man Liverpool signed under the nose of Arsenal, is expected to make his full debut in this game. The Liverpool midfield looks quite strong with Sahin, Gerrard and Allen in it. Allen has perhaps been one of the most impressive Liverpool player in the opening few games. Rahem Sterling also had an impressive game against Manchester City and can cause some problems for Arsenal down the wings.

Arsenal team news
Probable Starting Lineup (4-2-1-3): Mannone; Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Jenkinson; Diaby, Arteta, Cazorla; Podolski, Giroud, Walcott

Vito Mannone looks likely to get another start if Szczesny fails in his late fitness test. But the big news for Arsenal would be the return of Koscielny into the starting line-up, although it must be said that Mertesacker and Vermaelen has done a commendable job so far in his absence and defense certainly doesn’t seem to be Arsenal’s problem at the moment. But in all fairness, Liverpool will be stronger test for the Arsenal defense than Stoke and Sunderland.

There will be no changes in the midfield combination of Arteta and Diaby as the double pivot while Cazorla will start just ahead of them. The only change expected is that of Walcott replacing Gervinho. Gervinho was mostly ineffective against Stoke and lacked the cutting age. Walcott, who was recently at the center of a much publicized contract negotiation saga, will have the chance to put those behind him and propel Arsenal up the table. Giroud is expected to start up front once again with Podolski out wide on the left. Giroud and Podolski have a lot to prove in this match after firing blanks in the opening two.

20-08-2011 Arsenal 0 : 2 Liverpool

Key Facts

• There have been seven goals scored in the 90th minute or later in the last seven Premier League games between Liverpool and Arsenal and five in the last four.

• Liverpool have won just one of their last 10 Premier League games against Arsenal (W1 D6 L3).

• Arsenal have failed to score in their opening two Premier League games. The longest they have gone without scoring from the start of the season is 224 minutes (last season).

• The Gunners are unbeaten in their last five Premier League visits to Anfield (W2 D3) and have come from behind in all those games to secure those results.

• Arsenal have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches, but five of the other six games have been draws.

Prediction

Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal

This will be a very tight game. Expect Liverpool to be a stronger unit with Agger and Sahin in the team. The misfiring Arsenal forward line will have to break the duck and one can expect the duo of Podolski and Giroud to come good on the day, they are too good as players to continue firing blanks. Liverpool’s home advantage and Arsenal’s need to get something out of this game might just see the game ending even, but there will be plenty of action I am sure.

Arsenal v Sunderland preview, line-up and score prediction

Posted on August 18, 2012 by admin

Arsenal vs Sunderland preview by KJ

This is finally it. We’ve waited so long for this game and it’s finally here. The first Arsenal game of the season!

We’re more prepared this time round even with the departures of Van Persie and most likely, Song. Although this won’t be as difficult as Newcastle were with us playing at home also being a benefiting factor, Sunderland won’t roll over.

Martin O’Neil has set them up really organised and are extremely efficient at defending whilst utilising the counter attack with young Irishman Mclean proving his worth last season. They’re essentially a better version of Stoke at the moment.

Arsene Wenger has essentially got a new front-line at the moment. The likes of Podolski and Cazorla are fully expected to start changing the complexion of the club’s original dynamics. We can expect to see more link-up play with Podolski and Cazorla as well as the attacking mid contributing to the goals. Podolski will surprise a few people with his pace which seems deadly on the counter-attack. Walcott will also play slightly differently with him cutting in a bit more and combining with Cazorla.

I expect Arteta and Diaby to be our central midfielders and they seem like they can defensively, do the job. However, they both need to make sure that they are defending when required. We need to be disciplined this match as it could set the precedent for our season.

Line-up:

Szczesny
Jenkinson Mertesacker Vermaelan Gibbs
Arteta Diaby
Walcott Cazorla Gervinho
Podolski

This is a very solid line-up personally. It consists of the majority of our first team players. The only one which I feel slightly worried about is Jenkinson. However, I’m confident that Arteta and Diaby can provide cover for him and he’ll do his best to impress Wenger.

My predicted score is: 2-0 to Arsenal. I think it will be a goal for Podolski and one for Gervinho as well.

TV: Highlights BBC 1 Match Of The Day

Arsenal (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Diaby, Arteta; Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski; Giroud.
Out: Frimpong (hamstring), Rosicky (calf), Sagna (broken leg), Wilshere (ankle), Koscielny (calf), Oxlade-Chamberlain (ankle).

Out: Bardsley (ankle), Vaughan (hernia), Brown (knee).
Test: Sessegnon (ankle).

Referee: Chris Foy. Matches (last season): 22, Red 4, Yellow 62.

Team News
Arsenal will assess England forward Theo Walcott ahead of the Premier League opener against Sunderland.

Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and defender Laurent Koscielny will both miss out having withdrawn from the midweek internationals.

Summer signing Santi Cazorla will be monitored after his trip to Puerto Rico with Spain, while Lukas Podolski is expected to lead the attack following the sale of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.

Midfielder Jack Wilshere continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury as does defender Bacary Sagna.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill could hand a start to new striker Louis Saha, who arrived at the club on Thursday following his release by Tottenham. But striker Stephane Sessegnon an injury doubt.

Match Notes
There will be the very clear sense of a new era at Arsenal, not just because Robin van Persie has departed but also due to the other summer additions.

It could easily be argued that Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud represent the longer term replacements of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri as well as Van Persie.

Arsenal’s home record against Sunderland is good, particularly in the Premier League era where they have never been beaten in 11 matches.

Betting: Home 1-3, Away 8-1, Draw 4-1.

Stat of the game: It is 12 years since Arsenal lost on the opening day, and that was, curiously, at Sunderland.

Jeremy Wilson's prediction: Arsenal 3 Sunderland 1.
