Arsenal will not lose Song to Barcelona

Posted on August 14, 2012 by admin

Arsene Wenger has assured Arsenal fans that Alex Song is not going anywhere, following weeks of rumours about a possible transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona.

“There’s nothing going on with Song. There’s nothing in that.”

This statement is probably designed to stop Song himself from thinking too much about Barcelona. He has already stated that he is happy at Arsenal, but Wenger will not want any distractions in the minds of the team as they prepare to kick off the new season.

“We’ve never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona.”

The Spanish media have claimed that Barcelona have been in contact with a number of clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, about a defensive player with good passing to replace Seydou Keita. Rumour has it that they were hoping to get Song for a measly £15 million, but Wenger has reminded us that there is absolutely no need to think about selling him.

“Song has three year’s contract. He’s not in the same situation as Robin van Persie.”

So bugger off Barca, you are not getting Song. The 24-year old Cameroon international was fantastic for the Gunners last season, and he was not even playing in his best position. I think that he will be better this time, and that Arsenal’ midfield will be second to none. We can win something this season.

Come on you Gunners!
