Have Arsenal signed unheard of keeper?

Evening Gooners. So after AW press conference one has the feeling of dread that we will not be signing anyone this transfer period unless the player is, “Top, top, top.” Not sure how I feel about that or even if we should be concerned or not. I guess at some stage we have to let Arsene do his thing and put faith in him once more. However, having just said that, reports are circulating that Arsenal have signed a Macedonian goalkeeper.

His name is Dejan Iliev and he is a youth goalkeeper. It’s speculated in the Macedonian press that the player has already signed his contract in the presence of Arsene Wenger. Its all a bit confusing given AW previous statement combined with the fact that lliev is not a “top, top, top” player. Or is he!? Iliev, who was previously without a club, has represented Macedonia at Under-19 level. ????The youth keeper, who is only 17 years old, will go in to the reserve squad if the report is to be believed.

At present, Arsenal have a number of very promising young goalkeepers at the club with Damien Martinez, one of the most highly regarded, being recently promoted to the bench in the recent Premier League game against Stoke after injuries to both Szcsesny and Fabianski which gave way to Vito Mannone for an EPL start this season.

So the question that begs is, why with all the flamboyant rumors flying around, would a 17 year old keeper suddenly emerge for Arsenal? Now given we’ve been linked to just about everyone this transfer season, I’d like to believe that it is just speculation but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to dismiss this report as a rumor. It’s simply not big enough. I’m sure the boy is good and all but I’m not sure Arsenal fans were hoping for IIiev to be AW’s big signing come the end of the transfer period.
