The Arsenal Way is the ONLY Way by CS
It’s widely accepted that the relationship between Arsenal and Manchester City is not necessarily ‘great’ due to the completely different Business / Financial approach, and Football Ethos of both clubs. You could probably include Chelsea in this analysis as well, but maybe to a slightly lesser extent, as after we hit back at them for ‘Tapping Up / Encouraging ‘Cashley Cole’, they’ve tended to steer clear of Arsenal.
Manchester City, like Chelsea, PSG, Malaga and the like, have a ‘Sugar Daddy Owner’ who throws Millions, and literally Billions – (well almost) at the Club, to buy success, in a desperate attempt to try to ‘create a history’ that Manchester City, or Chelsea, for that matter, to put it BLUNTLY, have NEVER had.
Arsenal, on the other hand, throughout its history, has always had sustained, consistent (if cyclical) success, which can only really be bettered by Liverpool ( Great History – Good Respect between the Clubs ) and Manchester United (Great History – Arrogant attitude under Alex Ferguson – he should never have been ‘Knighted’ – Mutual tolerance, but no great respect between the clubs). Throughout Arsenal’s history, the club has ALWAYS been run and managed from Board Level down, with Responsible Financial Prudence – successfully continued under the management of Arsene Wenger.
To put it in perspective – whether some Arsenal fans like it or not, YES, Football is a sport first and foremost, BUT, it is also a business, which deals with billions of Pounds globally and nationally, throughout the year, and hundreds of millions of Pounds every year in the transfer windows alone.
Manage the Financial side of Professional Football irresponsibly, and you put the very survival of your club at risk. This is NOT fiction it IS a Fact – which cannot be ignored.
Leeds United, Portsmouth, Glasgow Rangers, Malaga, and more will follow.
I’ve been an Arsenal fan for 43 Years, since 1969, so I’ve seen my share of ‘Barren Times’ and ‘Successful Times’ – I’ve never wavered in my support for Arsenal, and I’ve always been proud of Arsenal’s unique sense of calm, stability, and independence. The club is not called ‘THE ARSENAL’ for nothing.!!
Some may agree with me, others may disagree, but personally, I wouldn’t change a thing, and the benefits of this approach, are being proven NOW – in this Transfer Window.
