Arsene Wenger gave his reaction to the second goalless draw in a row, and believes that Arsenal should have got a win, but that the goals will soon come. It is just a matter of the players getting used to each other and clicking together, rather than not having the right players.
“We are used to finding each other blind in the final third and there is still something missing.
“It is an understanding, because you have Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud. One month ago they didn’t know each other, so that will come.”
The Frenchman believes that the movement, accuracy and passing that we need to start winning games could come at any minute, but also does not want too much pressure on the players as it could have a negative effect.
“It can be very quick.
“The more you speak about the problem, the bigger it becomes in our game.”
Wenger is not looking for any single player to take the place of van Persie, but thinks that more of the team will chip in with goals this season. Also, an early goal in either game would have opened up the game which would have suited the Gunners much more.
The defensive display gave Wenger a great deal of satisfaction, with him describing the whole team effort and application as a fight.
“You could say we behaved like men who are ready for a fight.”
Wenger admitted that he felt that it was two points dropped rather than a hard point gained, but we have not lost and not conceded a goal. Once we click at the other end, Arsenal will be formidable.
Wenger categorically stated that Newcastle midfielder Tiote would not be coming to Arsenal.
