Walcott to extend contract by TS
Over the past week, the reports have gone dry speculating Theo’s future at Arsenal. The speedy winger was reported to be holding out for a weekly wage that touched the £100k mark. Walcott, with just a year left on his contract, had fans divided whether his services were required for the coming season. With the transfer season coming to a close, it seems imperative that the 23 year old extends his contract very quickly.
Tabloids have reported that Walcott has caught the eye of Liverpool, Chelsea and Juventus, but Wenger is insistent though that Theo wishes to remain at the club and is confident of retaining his services for the future, despite speculation that Wenger is in the market for Jesus Navas, Walcott’s potential replacement. Wenger was stated as saying, ” We try sort it out, and we try to sort it out one way or the other. We want to extend his contract and to keep him at the club. His (Walcott’s) desire is also right. He wants to stay and we need to find an agreement.”
Wenger was also open to the prospect of fringe players exiting the club. ” We have some players who can go out. I have a clear mind of what I want to do, if it happens, it happens.” To me, that seems positive enough. AW, our chief, has a plan and I for one, trust it, whatever it may be! Theo is quality and I think he gets better every year. Keeping him is imperative to our success and it seems AW agrees.
On our upcoming match against Stoke, Wenger had this to say, “They are a team (Stoke) who defend very well and their football is based on efficiency and that always demands a great concentration level.” So a reserved approach by our coach but that’s to be expected. All we can say is that we need some goals and we absolutely need the win.
