Arsenal make moves to strengthen the defence

Posted on July 09, 2012 by admin

Arsenal are ready to secure the services of the 26-year old French international Laurent Koscielny. The defender is going to sign a new and lucrative five year deal with the Gunners. Arsene Wenger has also been alerted to a potential new left back in Egyptian international Milo.

The 21-year old defender currently plays for Haras El Hodood in Egypt, and has put in some very impressive performances for his country. In the Toulon tournament and the Arab Nations Cup this year he has drawn interest from a number of clubs, including Benfica and Sporting Club from Portugal.

Arsenal and Lyon are also keen on the player and representatives of both clubs will be keeping an eye on the youngster during the Olympics. It is reported that Mile (real name Islam Ramadan) would prefer the move to North London but the clubs have not committed themselves as yet.

Hopefully the contract extension for Koscielny will be announced soon, as he has become a fantastic defender and with Thomas Vermaelen next to him we have the best central defensive pairing in the league.

I think Djourou is a great back up, but if Napoli are willing to pay decent money for him then I can see him leaving. As long as Wenger gets the money to spend on other players then we will be fine. We still need to get a strong, talented defensive midfielder, however, to give the defence more cover and to free up the attack.
