Arsenal to replace Alex Song with Lucas Biglia?

Posted on August 16, 2012 by admin

Troubled times, Troubled times. There was a time earlier in this transfer window that Arsenal fans were expecting that Arsene Wenger was going to bring in Yann M’Vila or Lucas Biglia as a backup for Alex Song, or at least one of them to become the holding midfielder while Song moved into a more forward position as an attacking midfielder.

Now things seem a lot less clear, and with the rumours seeming convinced that Song is on his way to our hated enemies Barcelona, it looks like Biglia is now going to be a straight replacement for the Cameroonian. Could this be possibly true?

For some time it looked like Nuri Sahin was Wenger’s replacement-of-choice for Song, but that now looks to be a dream as he is nearly certain to go to Liverpool, and now Sky Sports “understands” that Arsenal have now switched theit attention back to the big Argentinian international from Anderlecht.

We know that when Sky “understands” something, they are usually correct, and I am sure that Biglia is a very big and strong holding midfielder, but could he really replace Alex Song in Arsenal’s midfield?
