Nashy: Arsenal fans need to watch out for PREMATURE SPECULATION!!

We All Contracted Premature Speculation!!! by Nashy

Over on my blog on LadyArse a few weeks back I alerted the Arsenal faithful to a horrible disease that sweeps through the ranks during the transfer windows. This disease, is Premature Speculation. A definition in the Arsenal Supporters Medical Handbook defines it as so:

Premature Speculation – The disease of falling foul of speculation in the media regarding stories about Arsenal Football Club. Symptoms can include heightened sense of tension, anger and rash comments towards those you don’t know.

And so with the news that Arsenal have withdrawn from the race to sign Nuri Sahin, the door has been left open for Brendan Rodgers and his team of title challengers. No, seriously, Liverpool are title challen… hahahahbsdiaf. I couldn’t do it.

Despite the fact that Nuri Sahin will be able to ply his trade in the Champions League? Europa League now he is not with Arsenal, fans all over the world have taken to the forums and the interweb to curse Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis on their apparant lack of ambition/transfer nous/transfer speediness (delete as appropriate). The anger spilling from the frothing mouths of the baying mob as they fail to understand just why Arsenal have decided to withdraw from this transfer, the transfer of the one and only Nuri Sahin, is compelling.

But wait, and hold on just a tiddlywink. When the transfer window opened, how many of us were crying out for that star acquisition, Nuri Sahin? How many of us had pencilled him in as the vital missing cog in the Arsenal midfield that it had been bereft of for the last seven years? I’m going to argue not many of you, although I’m sure there’s a band of Football Manager Warriors who would swear they’ve been tracking the talents of the young Turk for years now. They managed to sign him to Rushden and Diamonds just before they took them to Champions League glory in 2018/19.

And this is where I urge caution, my fellow Gooners. We all have the right to get excited about transfers, that’s what being a football fan is all about. The feeling of getting a new player who will undoubtedly become the greatest player the world has ever seen, the same feeling you got when you pulled a shiny out of the sticker packet. Probably not the same feeling when someone bigger stole it off you though.

Yet we are all in danger of becoming so wrapped up in all of the information out there, most of it bollocks reported by people who are hit-whoring.. whores. There’s so much information on a potential transfer these days, I’ve lost count on the amount of times I’ve retweeted someone saying Sahin was in my hometown of Shenley. And this is what Premature Speculation does to you.

The anger, disapointment and frustration that you feel should not be aimed at the club . Surely we have all come to realise that Wenger is in the businees of buying at the right price. All three of our major inbound signings this season cost less than Andy Carroll all together. It should come as no surprise to us that Wenger pulled out of a deal to pay someone’s wages for a year, only to have them f”ck off back to the wrinkly, grey haired ball sack that is Jose Mourinho.

Keep the faith, Gunners. There is a week in the window left and we still have the excitement of saying goodbye to Bendtner and Squillachi left to come. But when you see the headline of “BENDTNER TO SPURS IN SHOCK £5MILLION MOVE!”, and for some reason it doesn’t come true, protect yourself from the symptoms of Premature Speculation. Take a deep breathe, close the window you’re looking at and open up an incognito one. That is all.

I love Arsenal,

and I love you too.
