There have been various reports this morning that the ex-Chelsea star Didier Drogba could be on his way to Arsenal after problems amongst the owners of Shanghai Shenhua who are not reportedly able to pay his wages which are rumoured to be 300,000 GBP per WEEK!
Ray Wilkins, who spent many many years working alongside Drogba at Chelsea, doubts very much that the Ivorian international would ever move to the Emirates, simply because of the great rivalry between London’s two top clubs.
How can he go to Arsenal after spending eight years at Chelsea?” Wilkins said. “Didier, in his heart of hearts, would think that’s a step too far.”
It is a fact that Arsene Wenger had shown interest in signing Drogba before he moved to Stamford Bridge, but never mind his long association with Chelsea, there is simply no way that Wenger could possibly match the wages on offer from any other big club in Europe. Also, because Drogba is 34, Wenger would stick to his strict guidelines and would only ever give him a one-year contract, which is one of the reasons why Drogba left Stamford Bridge in the first place.
So let’s all be realistic here, there is NO change of Drogba ever coming to Arsenal…………
