Arsenal Injury Update Ahead Of The Southampton Game by AH

The international break ends tonight, with many Arsenal players involved with their respective countries. This is good news, as long as all of our players come back injury free and match fit for the game against Southampton, this coming Saturday at The Emirates. So while many of our players are on international duty, here’s the update on the players who are just returning from injury and the information on those who have sustained injures during the international break.

Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Frimpong, Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna are all back in light training and fitness work as they gain back their match fitness, whilst Wilshere and Frimpong, have started to train with the ball.

Jack Wilshere is expected to join in with full training at some point next week along with Frimpong, with both eager to make their long awaited comebacks to the Premier League. Whilst Sagna and Rosicky are slightly behind in the return with the pair expected to return to full training the following week.

Wojciech Szczesny has recovered from his rib injury and joined in with training yesterday; he should be available for Saturday’s game. Meanwhile, Theo Walcott has withdrawn from the England squad with illness. He left the England camp soon after the team’s 5-0 victory over Moldova and returned to London with a Virus. Suggestions are that he is expected to be fit and ready to play on Saturday if called upon, with news expected in the new few days.

Fabianski is also close to making his return to full fitness, whilst Giroud and Vermaelen have overcome their injury scares to be available for the 2nd international game of this 2014 World Cup Qualifying Stage.

Diaby’s injury is a muscular problem and he has been released by the French Football federation in order to continue his recovery. It’s not yet known for sure whether he will be available for the Southampton game, but Arsene Wenger doesn’t seem overly worried……
