More good news for Arsenal as Podolski and Mertesacker are left on the bench

Posted on September 12, 2012 by admin

The many Arsenal players that were named in their country’s sides last night managed to come through their respective games unscathed, and Arsene wenger will be relieved to find out that both Ñukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker are both going to be left out of the starting line-up for Germany this evening.

Tonight’s local derby against Austria is always a tough game for the German’s but it looks like Joachim Low is keen to use his full array of talent during these easy-ish games, so Marcel Schmelzer will come in to replace the in-form Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker in front of Manuel Neuer’s goal.

For the forward line, Low has decided to leave Podolski on the bench although he may get a chance to come on if Austria cause more problems that expected this evening.

But the starting line up will have the returning Toni Kroos in midfield alongside Sami Khedira, while the lone striker Miroslav Klose will be supported by Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil and Marco Reus.

Podolski can’t really complain about having to play second fiddle in that side as he settles in at the Emirates, but Arsene Wenger will certainly NOT be complaing when he hears the news…….
